What inspired you to create RIP.scot?
I was raised in Coatbridge with my parents and older brother. During my childhood, I was particularly influenced and encouraged by my grandmother on my mother’s side to think for and believe in myself.
We are a close-knit family, and we’ve always enjoyed exploring the outdoors and travelling throughout Scotland.
These adventures from Alness to Culross provided me with life experience of the tapestry that binds us as a country, often without me even realising it.
There’s no question that those early years were significant in forming my identity and undoubtedly influenced my decision to establish RIP.scot
Would you please describe the work that RIP.scot does and why you chose a .scot domain?
From my research, I found that although Facebook and other platforms serve as helpful tools for sharing funeral information, many people as I do believe they are not the best way to honour final memories.
This highlighted the need to me for a Scottish site for sharing condolences, stories, and celebrating the lives of families and friends for generations to come. At its core, RIP.scot aims to bridge that gap.
Therefore, selecting a .SCOT domain was essential. As it reinforces the Scottish identity of the site while establishing a memorable and lasting place for remembrance.
What is your vision for the future of rip.scot?
In the upcoming year, we plan to enable the creation of custom notices, such as monthly mind and anniversary notices and throughout continue to build upon awareness around the site.
