‘Scotland has forged an incredible reputation around the world. Rich provenance and alignment with quality has become synonymous with Scotland, and the .scot domain allows this identity to thrive.’
When Paul Miller discovered that the closest distilleries to St. Andrews were approximately fifty miles away (Tullibardine and Glenturret in Perthshire), a need to bring the craft to the local area was realised. This lead to the founding of Eden Mill (previously Eden Brewery), Scotland’s first single-site distillery and brewery creating beer, whisky and gin.
Based in Guardbridge, Eden Mill offers a wide range of flavours sourced from the local fields, woodlands and coasts to represent the best tastes of Scotland. They are the first to make spirits in the region for over one hundred years and are based on the banks of the River Eden- the distillery’s namesake. By using traditional distilling methods and processes, Eden Mill hope to establish the reputation of St. Andrews as a renowned distilling area.
Eden Mill proudly boast that ‘Scotland is at the heart of a global gin movement and has the perfect storm for the creativity required to make gin. There’s fantastic distilling talent originating from the deeply rooted understanding of whisky, a cultural drive and desire to innovate, and plentiful sources of interesting and unique ingredients.’
The distillery has committed to keeping their whisky output small and fills around eight barrels per week. Eventually their whisky will be available in three different unique styles: pale malt, chocolate malt and crystal malt. This will make a new and special contribution to the Scottish whisky export market.
Eden Mill have become one of the latest members of the .scot community, with International Sales Manager Daniel Sherry stating, ‘Scotland has forged an incredible reputation around the world. Rich provenance and alignment with quality has become synonymous with Scotland, and the .scot domain allows this identity to thrive.’
The distillery aspires to create recipes which exhibit distinct styles and flavours to continue the success story of Scottish gin. They produced the first ever ‘hopped’ gin in the UK and expect to attract over twenty thousand visitors for their gin tours alone within the next year.
If gin isn’t your drink of choice, then you’re in luck as the distillery offers a wide range of tours delivered by guides who are experts in the field. Available activities include everything from brewery tours to cocktail masterclasses.
You can also purchase a selection of their drinks and glassware through their online shop.
